ORGANIZATIONS THAT CAN HELP Even though homelessness is a terrible thing, people in communities and organizations are coming together to help end homelessness, such as these three. HomeAid is a national non-profit organization that builds/renovates shelters for those temporarily homeless. HomeAid helps 1,800,000 to get a bed, and a roof over their head each year.
In early January, New Orleans became the first big city to completely have no homeless veterans.
Back on My Feet (BoMF) is a non-profit organization that helps the homeless through RUNNING. BoMF teams up with local organizations like Emergency Shelter, Mission, and Halfway House, and forms “teams” at each shelter that consist of the homeless and volunteers from the shelters’ communities. Successful Members are offered financial assistance to get their life going again. 1,203 people have gotten a house since BoMF, and 426,009 miles have been ran by the members so far.
